Rabanne x The Steidz: Metal as Manifesto

Rabanne and The Steidz unveil House of Fantasies, an international call for applications created to spotlight new design talent and invite a new generation of creatives to bring a contemporary perspective to the House’s cultural heritage. Applications are open to emerging designers from around the world until 3 October 2026. For this inaugural edition, metal—a founding code of the Rabanne language—becomes the starting point for an exploration spanning design, art and architecture, true to the radical creativity and disruptive spirit that have shaped the House since 1966.

Between heritage and creation

For this inaugural edition, House of Fantasies places metal at the heart of a space for experimentation. An emblematic material for Paco Rabanne, it becomes far more than a legacy here: a language of expression, transformation, and projection. The selected designers will be invited to explore its possibilities and create an original statement piece informed by the House’s aesthetic, technical, and symbolic language.

Through this initiative, Rabanne extends a vision of creativity shaped since 1966 by radical thinking, a break with convention, and an unapologetic sense of excess. Metal is freed from function to become a vehicle for fantasy and a medium for freer, more instinctive expression. A material to be reinvented through contemporary perspectives, within a singular space where design meets imagination.

A program dedicated to emerging creativity

Following the call for applications, five emerging designers will be selected to take part, from November 2026 to March 2027, in a creative programme combining workshops, mentorship and production support. Guided by artist Harry Nuriev, they will be invited to explore metal in all its aesthetic, technical and symbolic richness, revealing a personal, contemporary and distinctly individual interpretation.

Each finalist will receive production support to bring an original artistic project to life, informed by the House’s language. At the intersection of Rabanne’s iconic heritage and new creative sensibilities, House of Fantasies opens up a space for reinvention where metal lends itself to new forms, new uses and new imaginaries.

Rabanne, a House shaped by art

Since 1966, Rabanne has maintained an instinctive relationship with the world of creativity. An architect turned couturier, Paco Rabanne disrupted fashion conventions by introducing metal into clothing, transforming an industrial material into a radical and instantly recognisable creative language.

Today, this legacy extends beyond the boundaries of fashion. Art, architecture, design, music and contemporary culture come together within an imaginary world where material becomes attitude and creation becomes an act of disruption. With House of Fantasies, Rabanne does more than preserve its iconic codes: the House sets them in motion, confronts them with new sensibilities and continues the defining tension between heritage and reinvention.

The Steidz: at the intersection of design, image, and contemporary creation

Founded in 2015 by Maxime Gasnier and Sébastien Maschino, The Steidz has established itself as an observatory of contemporary creation and emerging aesthetics. Through its magazine, exhibitions, studio and residency, the platform spotlights emerging talent shaping today’s creative scenes across art, design, fashion and photography.

This collaboration with Rabanne brings together two sensibilities united by a shared commitment to creative communities and new forms of expression. The Steidz contributes its curatorial perspective and knowledge of emerging scenes, while the House’s heritage offers designers a territory for expression defined by provocation, fantasy and transformation.

Harry Nuriev, a leading figure in contemporary design

An artist and designer based between New York and Paris, Harry Nuriev is the founder and creative director of Crosby Studios. His practice spans disciplines, from immersive environments and art installations to public spaces and everyday objects, driven by a consistent desire to shift perceptions and uses.

At the heart of his work is Transformism, a movement he conceived around the transformation of forms and the experiences that surround them. As mentor for this inaugural edition, Harry Nuriev will guide the designers in their exploration of metal, encouraging them to move beyond its primary materiality and reveal new aesthetic, symbolic and emotional dimensions.

An inaugural edition in four stages

Conceived as a creative journey, House of Fantasies will support the selected designers through every stage of their project’s development. From initial concept to final realisation, the programme will provide a framework in which they can refine their vision and bring to life an original piece inspired by the Rabanne universe.3 August–3 October 2026: launch of the international call for applications.Late October 2026: announcement of the five selected designers.November 2026–March 2027: talent mentorship and development of the creations.March 2027: announcement of the House of Fantasies winner.
