Invictus Aqua - 2016
Invictus Aqua was launched in 2016 as the aquatic reading of Invictus, the fresh and salty counterpart to a line built on the trophy bottle and the idea of victory. A reformulated version followed in 2018 with a more powdery profile, before Rabanne brought the marine signature back in the 2024 and 2025 editions, released in limited quantities on rabanne.com.
Within the Invictus family, Invictus Aqua is the woody & watery interpretation. It is fresher, saltier and more mineral than the original Woody Aquatic Invictus, lighter and less concentrated than Invictus Parfum, and far cooler than the Ambery Aromatic warmth of Invictus Elixir. Where the rest of the line moves towards intensity and depth, Aqua moves towards air, water and light.
The composition works on a single contrast. Bitter, sun-warmed grapefruit oil opens it, a salty and mineral marine accord holds the heart, and warm amber wood seals it close to the skin. Medium in intensity, it lasts 5 to 7 hours and leaves a polished trail rather than a heavy one.
Built for spring and summer, for daytime, sport, the office, the beach and holidays, Invictus Aqua is the edition of the Invictus universe made for heat and daylight rather than for the night.
The iconic Invictus trophy takes on sea-blue glass, a colour that signals the salty marine accord before the first spray. The sculpted trophy silhouette is unchanged, so the bottle still reads as Invictus at a glance, while the blue marks this out as the aquatic edition of the line.
Set against the clear glass and silver trophy of the original Invictus, the blue bottle is the visual shortcut to the freshest reading of the family. The final bottle may vary between the rounded and the faceted editions, while the fragrance identity remains Invictus Aqua.
