Miraval Studios X Rabanne: who is Walette, the 2025 winner?

Among the highlights of 2025, Maison Rabanne has teamed up with Miraval Studios on a unique musical project: reviving Listen To The Music, Judy Carter's iconic disco-soul track released in 1983.  Launched on TikTok under the name #RabanneRemix, the challenge sparked a real craze, revealing a new generation of artists. WALLETTE stood out with a bright and resolutely funky version, in keeping with the Maison's disco heritage. Originally from North Carolina and based in Brooklyn, the singer-songwriter was invited to record the final version at Miraval Studios, alongside Damien Quintard, producer and co-founder of the venue.

The remastered track will be unveiled on 7 November 2025.

A project born from the #RabanneRemix Challenge

With the #RabanneRemix Challenge, the House is not just revisiting an iconic track, it is creating a space for expression that is open to the whole world. The challenge: to reinterpret Judy Carter's Listen To The Music, a disco-soul track released in 1983, through a resolutely contemporary lens, in keeping with Rabanne's musical heritage. Open to all on TikTok, the challenge has garnered more than 15 million views in just a few weeks. It revealed a plurality of proposals, driven by an emerging scene committed to reinventing the codes.

Beyond the track itself, the project offered a rare opportunity: to record the final version at Miraval Studios, an iconic creative space located in Provence. For several decades, this legendary studio has welcomed some of the biggest names in music: Pink Floyd, The Cure, Muse, AC/DC, Travis Scott... An exceptional setting, designed for high-quality sound and artistic freedom.

WALLETTE has created a brilliant reinterpretation of the track. She joined Miraval Studios to record her final version, accompanied by Damien Quintard, producer and co-founder of the venue.

The rebirth of a disco soul anthem

Accompanied by producer Damien Quintard, WALLETTE recorded her version of Listen To The Music in the legendary recording studio. The track, which was entirely re-recorded, features multi-instrumentalist Augustin Charnet in a deliberately live approach, capturing the moment in its purest form.

Released in 1983 on the Paco Rabanne Design label, Listen To The Music is a disco-soul track with funk accents. Its original orchestration combines brass, percussion and elaborate instrumental textures, a signature sound that resonates with the Rabanne universe of the 1980s. In this new interpretation, WALLETTE reinterprets the track through a contemporary aesthetic, combining confident groove, R&B references and pop sensibility. A precise and instinctive performance, carried by an expressive voice, which pays homage to the spirit of the track while revealing it in a new light.

Who is WALLETTE ?

A unique voice on the New York scene, WALLETTE hails from North Carolina and now lives in Brooklyn. A singer-songwriter whose artistic universe is rooted in gospel sounds, she has been performing in Rome, Paris and New York since 2016.

Her musical journey is characterised by introspective songwriting and sincere performances. She released her first EP, Trusting the Process, in 2020, followed by the track Time in 2023, before collaborating with Grammy-nominated pianist Ray Angry in 2024.

She also works at the crossroads of music and fashion, collaborating with brands such as Off-White and Jil Sander. Her participation in the Rabanne x Miraval Studios project is part of her demanding career path and marks a new stage in her studio work.

Monsieur Rabanne's musical legacy

In the 1980s, Monsieur Rabanne placed music at the heart of his creative universe. Through the Paco Rabanne Design label and Centre 57 in Paris, he supported the Afro, disco and funk scenes, promoting cultural expressions that were still under-represented in established circles. This free and cross-disciplinary vision remains essential to the House's identity. By reviving Listen To The Music, Rabanne is reactivating this dialogue between fashion and music and continuing its mission: to pass on legacies while anchoring them in the present.
